The first course in the Geeky Heart relationship counseling series introduces using geek artifacts in conjunction with the Gottman Sound Relationship House as well as a summary of the evidence based research conducted in the Gottman’s “Love Lab” for over 40 years. Clinicians will learn the basics of teaching trust, the 3 Cs engaging in a healthy relationship and how relationships build love maps for lasting friendships. This course will focus on how to use geek culture with evidence-based practices for post-doctoral and master’s level clinicians who are working with clients facing these challenges.
Learning Objectives
1. Identify the seven levels of the Sound Relationship House Theory
2. Demonstrate at least two interventions for building Love Maps using geek culture
3. Identify the three C’s of engaging in a healthy relationship
Course Instructor:
Wendi “Nicki” Line is a licensed mental health counselor with extensive training in clinical sexology and addiction combined with experience counseling in the inpatient and private practice settings. She is Kink Aware, Poly Friendly, and works with the LGBTQ+ communities. Wendi is the Vice President of the Sanctuary Center and an instructor at the International Academy of Collaborative Counseling and Coaching Education (IACCCE)
