Geek Therapeutics | Department of Continuing Education & Credentialing
To maintain the integrity and professionalism of the Certified Geek Therapist and Specialist programs, all credentialed individuals are required to submit a complete renewal application annually. This includes verification of an active professional license, completion of 12 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) through Geek Therapeutics within the preceding 12 months, 1 CEU in ethics from any accredited provider, and an updated professional headshot. These standards ensure that all certified professionals remain in compliance with current educational and ethical expectations, reflecting our commitment to clinical excellence and best practices in geek-integrated care.
Renewal applications must be submitted between December 15 and no later than December 31st of each calendar year. It is the responsibility of the credential holder to track and complete their CE requirements in a timely manner to avoid lapses in certification. Failure to meet the December 31st deadline will result in immediate expiration of credentials, requiring reinstatement with additional fees. Extensions are not automatically granted. To remain in good standing and continue using the Certified Geek Therapist or Specialist title, all renewal materials must be received and approved before the deadline. We strongly advise planning your CE completion throughout the year to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted renewal process.
Renewal Requirements
To maintain your status as a Certified Geek Therapist or Certified Geek Specialist, you must complete the following:
Updated Professional Headshot
Provide a high-resolution, current headshot (neutral background preferred). This may be used on your profile (if applicable).
Active Professional License
Upload a copy of your most current, valid license or credential relevant to your professional scope of practice.
Continuing Education
Upload a screenshot or documentation of 12 CEUs completed through Geek Therapeutics within the last 12 months.
Upload proof of 1 Ethics CEU from an accredited provider (any recognized source qualifies).
How to Submit Renewal Application
Step 1: Complete the Renewal Form online (link provided in your renewal email or through your student dashboard).
Step 2: Upload the required documents directly to the form.
Step 3: Agree to the Terms and Service Agreement included in the form.
Step 4: Submit your application. You will receive a confirmation email upon successful submission.

Annual Renewal Fee:
Certified Geek Therapist: 120.00 usd
Certified Geek Specialist: 120.00 usd
Reinstatement Fee (if lapsed):
$60 for the first 30-day extension
$120 for any subsequent extensions

Psychologists: Geek Therapeutics is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Geek Therapeutics maintains responsibility for this program and its content
Counselors: Geek Therapeutics has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7042. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Geek Therapeutics is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
Social Workers: Geek Therapeutics, #1769, is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB)Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved as ACE providers. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Geek Therapeutics maintains responsibility for this course. ACE provider approval period: 05/19/2022 – 05/19/2025. Social workers completing this course receive 1 continuing education credits.
Play Therapists: Geek Therapeutics has been approved by APT as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, No. 21-649. Programs that do not qualify for APT credit are clearly identified. Geek Therapeutics is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
Other Professions: This activity qualifies for the specified number of hours of instructional content as required by many licensing boards and professional organizations. Save your course outline and certificate of completion, and contact your board or organization for specific requirements. Completion of the course(s) with a post-test score of 80% or better is required to receive continuing education credit; there is no partial credit
