This training course will examine how the creation of video game avatars, table-top characters, and comic-strip protagonists can all be used as therapeutic interventions for the building of relational and emotional insight. Coming from a person-centered approach, the use of character creation can be meaningful in many ways to clients at various stages of their lives. Self-identity, self-empowerment, and self-acceptance can all be strengthened by establishing a character that fits into a fictional narrative. This course will examine how integrating character creation into game-therapy, role-play, and art therapy can foster therapeutic growth.
